The first mention of the word β€œyoga” appears in Rig Veda, a collection of ancient texts. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word β€œyuj,” which means β€œunion” or β€œto join.” Yoga can be traced back to northern India over 5,000 years ago. Indian monks spread their knowledge of yoga in the West during the late 1890s. Modern yoga teachings became widely popular in Western countries by the 1970s. Yoga being an authentic holistic tradition inclusive of contemplation & meditation. Through yoga, we realize that the physical body is a set of outer garments and the mind is like our undergarments. Beneath our clothes, covered by the body and the mind, there exists an eternal spiritual self. Through study let one practise yoga. Through yoga let one concentrate on study. By perfection in study and in yoga the Supreme Soul shines forth clearly.
